About Mrs. Loftis

I am in my 3rd year teaching Pre-K in Newport News, VA. I have a Masters in Elementary Teaching and a Bachelors in Early Childhood Psychology from Christopher Newport University. I love being a teacher because it allows me to experience learning on a daily basis. As 4 and 5 year olds, they learn so quickly and I am always astounded at the progress they make throughout the year! Not only is it exciting to witness the 'lightbulb' moments, but to also experience the journey with my students that leads them to success. Encouraging my students and establishing a positive environment to enhance their learning is so important to me!

I have been married to my best friend and love for 4 years and each day I realize how blessed I am to spend my life with him! He is very involved in my job as a teacher and loves to make guest visits- let's just say he makes a mean balloon animal! We have two cats, Jasper (the black one) and Kaylee (the tortoise shell one), who we adore more than we'd ever admit. I love when I get to bring them to visit the class during our pet unit! I also love reading, scrapbooking, and doing all things crafty (another benefit of being a teacher!). I love to laugh with my family, travel around the world, and visit the beach. One of my new hobbies is photography and I am always looking for new opportunities to practice!
